Statement of Partnership Authority Registration:
Filing is optional, but mandatory if partnership intends
to hold real estate in its name. Initial registration is
with the Secretary of State. A certified copy must also
be filed with the clerk of any county in which the
partnership owns real estate.

Registration of business name requirements: Registration
is mandatory. The applicant must register with the Clerk
of the court in the parish or parishes in which the person
intends to or conducts the business. (Section 51:281).
Term of registration: None stated in statute.
Name requirements: The name can be in any language,
but must be in English on the certificate. The
name shall not suggest that business is a government
agency. The name also shall not contain the name of a
public facility. In addition, the name must not falsely
suggest that the business is incorporated. (Sections
51:281, 281.2).
Registration application requirements: The applicant
must file a certificate before the person intends
to conduct the business. The certificate must set forth
the name of the business, the real full name of the
owner, and the post office address of the owner. (Section
51:281).
Publication requirements: None stated in statute.
Office for registration: The applicant must register
with the Clerk of the Court in the parish or parishes in
which the person intends to or conducts the business.
