Registration of business name requirements: Registration
is optional. Nevada does not have a fictitious
name statute, but has a trade name statute. A trade
name is essentially a business name other than the
owner(s)’s name. The applicant must register with the
Secretary of State. (Section 600.340).
Business Name Registration fee: $100.00
Term of registration: Five years. (Section
600.360).
Name requirements: The statute is exhaustive, stating that the trade name cannot be immoral, deceptive,
or scandalous. Please refer directly to the statute. (Section 600.330).
Registration application requirements: The application
for registration must set forth that the person is
applying for trade name, a description of the name. It
must include the name of the owner(s), the business
address of the owner(s), the type of business being
conducted, the date when the name was first used, a
statement that the owner(s) is the only person with
the right to use that name. The application must be
signed and verified, and contain three copies of the
trade name. (Section 600.340).
