Registration of business name requirements:
Registration is mandatory. The applicant must register
with the Clerk of the county or counties where
the business is or the applicant intends to conduct
business. (Section 130).
Business Name Registration fee: $25.00
Term of registration: None stated in statute.
Name requirements: The name cannot appear to be
the full name, the initials, or a word that appears to be
a real name. The exception to that law is if the owners
are the successors of the person for which the business
was originally named. (Section 130).
Registration application requirements: The certificate
must include the name of the business, the
address of the business, the full name of the person
conducting the business, the residence address of the
person conducting the business, and the age of the
owner(s), if under eighteen. (Section 130).

Office for registration: The applicant must register
with the Clerk of the county or counties where the
business is or the applicant intends to conduct business
and NYS Department of State Division of Corporations,
State Records and UCC, 41 State Street, Albany,
NY 12231-0001. (Section 130).
