Registration of business name requirements:
Registration is optional. The
applicant must register with the Department
of State. (Section 54:311).
Registration fee: $70.00
Term of registration: Ten years. (Section
54:321).
Name requirements: The statute is exhaustive,
the name cannot imply that
the business is incorporated or that the
business is a professional organization.

Registration application requirements:
The application must include the business
name, the nature of the business,
the street address of the principal place
of business, the name of the owner(s),
and the street address of the owner(s).

Publication requirements: The applicant
must publish the fictitious name in
the county in which the applicant conducts
or intends to conduct business.
The notice must contain the fictitious
name, street address of the principal
place of business, name of the owner(s),
statement that an application for fictitious
name is or was filed. (Section 54:
311).
