Registration of business name requirements:
Registration is mandatory. The
applicant must register with the Clerk
of the court in the parish or parishes in
which the person intends to or conducts
the business. (Section 51:281).

Name requirements: The name can be
in any language, but must be in English
on the certificate. The name shall not
suggest that the business is a government
agency. The name also shall not
contain the name of a public facility. In
addition, the name must not falsely suggest
that the business is incorporated.

before the person intends to conduct
business. The certificate must set forth
the name of the business, the real full
name of the owner(s), and the post office
