This Simple Engagement Letter is for use when hiring an individual to perform certain services on an independent contractor basis. This letter sets forth a detailed description of the services to be performed (i.e. bookkeeping, editing or secretarial) and the documents or information which must be provided by the client. It also sets forth the hourly rate for the services, amount of any retainer and the independent contractor status of the individual. It is important that the terms of such engagement be clearly set forth in writing.
